Hydrogen-rich Water for Strawberry Cultivation
Shanghai Yongsheng Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative boasts over 30 years of experience in strawberry cultivation, and its strawberries have won numerous national awards. Zhou Yu, the cooperative's chairman, introduced to reporters that the farm is featuring four main strawberry varieties this year. Among them, "Hongyan," a classic variety independently developed and successfully promoted by the cooperative, remains a consumer favorite due to its plump shape and refreshing taste. "Xuelixiang" gains a market advantage with its early ripening characteristics, becoming one of the first choices for strawberry lovers in the autumn and winter seasons. White strawberries, known for both their appearance and flavor, and new strawberry varieties provided by the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, will also enrich consumers' choices. Among these varieties, strawberries irrigated with hydrogen-rich water are a key focus of the cooperative's promotion. As a joint experimental base for hydrogen agriculture, the cooperative has been collaborating with relevant authoritative institutions on the cultivation of hydrogen-rich strawberries for over four years. Through continuous optimization, the advantages of hydrogen-rich strawberries are becoming increasingly evident: they have stronger stems and roots, greater resistance to disease, significantly higher yields, and a 1-2 degree increase in sweetness.
